At Vitalis Physiotherapy, the plantar fasciitis treatment is designed with the focus on:
Plantar fasciitis is a painful condition affecting the sole of the foot or the heel. The plantar fascia is a thick, connective tissue that supports the arch on the bottom of your foot. It absorbs shock when you are walking or running. If it gets overly stretched, or too much stress and pressure is placed on it, it can get inflamed, causing plantar fasciitis as a result.
A stabbing pain in the heel is usually felt early in the morning during the first step. In some milder cases, the discomfort gradually decreases until it fades completely at some point. The pain can appear again after prolonged standing or sitting.
Plantar Fascia strain will have localised tenderness around your arch and foot. That may be aggravated by lifting your toes or in standing rising up onto your toes. Plantar fasciitis is usually a gradual onset condition and pain is typically felt on the inside of your heel. You may also feel pain or tightness in your calf muscle.
If you think that you may have plantar fasciitis, getting back to high load activities such as running can take longer than recovery from an ordinary foot strain. This depends on your biomechanics and how long you have had the pain, as plantar fasciitis is by nature a chronic condition with sudden, painful flare-ups.
Although plantar fasciitis can sometimes go away on its own, it is possible to hasten the recovery process with proper feet and calf stretches. Our team at Vitalis Physiotherapy will gladly show you a few easy and effective plantar fasciitis exercises you can do on your own, at home.
However, if the pain persists and you ignore it, you may cause chronic heel pain. That will ultimately prevent you from performing simple, everyday activities. In most cases, people change the way they walk to be able to bear the pain, thus only causing additional complications with their feet, knees, hips or back. If the pain is persistent, the team at Vitalis Physiotherapy will customise your treatment and rehabilitation program to get you back to the activities that you love.
We tailor the treatment based on your specific case. Still, over the years, we have discovered several highly-effective treatment options, including:
